SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO.com) — A fire overnight caused extensive damage to the top floor of a home in Sioux Falls.
Fire was coming out of the roof of a story and a half house on N. Grange Avenue near W. 8th Street when Sioux Falls Fire Rescue arrived at 12:30 Monday morning.
The only occupant of the home at the time got out before help arrived.
The fire was brought under control within eight minutes of the crews’ arrival. The remainder of the home sustained smoke and water damage and was uninhabitable.
The displaced resident was assisted on the scene by the American Red Cross.
There was a report of one minor injury to a first responder.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.

Sioux Falls, South Dakota: At 12:33 a.m. Sioux Falls Fire Rescue was dispatched to a report of a structure fire. Initial reports stated there was fire upstairs and everyone was out of the home.
The first arriving fire engine found fire coming out of the roof of a story and a half house. The home owner was the only occupant of the single family home and was able to exit prior to first responders arriving on scene. Crews made an initial knock down of the fire from the exterior and then entered to extinguish the flames. The fire was brought under control within 8 minutes of crews arriving on scene.
Fire burned through the roof and caused extensive damage to the top floor of the home. The remainder of the home sustained smoke and water damage and was uninhabitable. The displaced resident was assisted on scene by the American Red Cross. There was a report of one minor injury to a first responder. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
Sioux Falls Fire Rescue responded with 5 fire trucks, 3 support vehicles, and 25 personnel. SFFR was supported on scene by Metro Communications, Sioux Falls Police Department, Patient Care EMS, Mid-American Energy, Xcel Energy, and Sioux Falls Public Works.
