SIOUX FALLS — Stampede goaltender Jaxson Stauber has earned USHL Goaltender of the Week honors for his two-game performance over the Lincoln Stars last weekend. The award is the first of his three-year league career.
The Plymouth, Minn. native made 35 of 38 saves and helped the Herd secure a point in the Western Conference standings in a 3-2 overtime loss to the Lincoln Stars. The following evening Stauber turned away all 30 shots faced in a 2-0 shutout victory to earn his second career regular season shutout. The goaltender went 1-0-1 for the weekend, with a 1.46 goals-against average and .956 save-percentage.
This season Stauber holds a 13-5-3 record in 21 appearances with a 2.48 goals-against average and .918 save-percentage since returning to the team in mid-November
He has appeared in 72 regular season games for the Sioux Falls Stampede over his career, earning a 37-19-8 record, 2.82 goals-against average and .900 save-percentage. He ranks fifth all-time in team history in regular season wins: Briggs (57), Lekkas (46), Lindgren (43) and Berdin (38).
He led the Stampede to an impressive 11-1-0 record, 1.46 goals-against average and .941 save-percentage during the 2019 Clark Cup playoffs en route to being named Clark Cup playoffs most valuable player.
Stauber is committed to play at Providence College this fall.
