SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO.com) — An Excessive Heat Warning has been issued for a majority of the KELO listening area.
Rising afternoon temperatures will combine with increasing humidity to push heat index values towards 110 degrees.
At 12:40 p.m., the National Weather Service was already reporting a heat index of 103 degrees in Sioux Falls.
As temperatures continue to climb through this evening, make sure you take the proper precautions while outdoors.
Drink plenty of fluids, avoid strenuous work if possible, and keep an eye on the elderly, children, and pets.
The Excessive Heat Warning is in effect until 8 p.m. tonight.
