WASHINGTON, DC (KELO.com) — They’re ticked off about a Tik Tok ban. That’s how Tik Tok users responded to this week’s U-S House vote to ban the social media app. They took the action because of concerns over Chinese government access to the personal information the app collects from users. Senator Mike Rounds says it’s more than just a personal privacy risk.
Senator Rounds says the company’s actions in the House vote show why we should be concerned about the app.
The Senator says the Chinese government is demonstrating its willingness to use the app to influence U-S public opinion and actions. Rounds believes the Chinese government is willing to use the information to influence elections and public opinion in the U-S. He says the Senate is likely to move a lot slower on taking action than the House.
