SIOUX FALLS, SD (KELO.com) – As part of Severe Weather Awareness Week, the National Weather Service is reminding folks to prepare before severe weather strikes. The NWS advises having the items in an emergency kit gathered ahead of time and put in a place you can get to quickly should severe weather threaten you.
Among the items that should be in a “go bag”, include a flashlight and batteries, water, a first aid kit, and non-perishable food. Other items that can be helpful in an emergency are a cell phone charger, a weather radio, and a whistle. Additional items include cash, special supplies for young children or pets, important records, and a change of clothes.
