WATERTOWN: The Watertown Police Department is continuing their investigation into an incident that occurred this morning in the 1900 block of East Highway 212 that led to the death of a 24 year -old Watertown man.
Sergeant Matt Hegg of the Watertown Police Department said officers were dispatched to the area shortly after 8:15 a.m.
Hegg said the man, identified as Franciso Romero Rodriguez, had moved to Watertown about two months ago. Police say Rodriguez is known to have been suffering from mental illness and officers have had contact with him on a few occasions since he moved to Watertown. Hegg says that no charges are expected.
The incident is being investigated as a suicide.
Police were assisted on-scene by Watertown Fire Rescue and the South Dakota Highway Patrol.
