SIOUX FALLS, S.D.(KELO.com) — Avera Prince of Peace has confirmed two new cases. In a statement released by the retirement community, two of their long-term residents tested positive for COVID-19. Employees, residents, and the families of the infected were informed.
“Because we have had no visitors for over two weeks, we believe this transmission could have been an employee. We have been screening and will continue to screen both employees and residents daily for symptoms. However, it’s possible to have the virus and not show symptoms. Also, because there is a community spread of this virus, it’s possible for someone to not know they have been exposed.”
Avera Prince of Peace says since the infections were confirmed they have followed all the Centers for Disease Control & Prevention and the State Department of Health’s guidelines to protect their residents and staff from this virus and are taking every action possible to prevent it from spreading in their setting and the broader community.
The infected were not hospitalized and have been isolated from the rest of the residents.
