PIERRE, S.D. (KELO.com) – A judge has denied The League of Women Voters’ request for a preliminary injunction over South Dakota’s new voter registration law…but the league is claiming victory in the case.
The law requires new voters to prove U.S. citizenship in order to vote in state elections.
At issue was an erroneous form letter from Secretary of State Monae Johnson to new registrants that failed to provide that proof.
The errors have been corrected, and other issues in the case have yet to be decided.
