SIOUX FALLS, SD (KELO.com) — A challenge has been issued to leaders in Sioux Falls City Hall. City Council Chair Rich Merkouris encouraged his colleagues to build on the foundation laid by former Mayor Paul TenHaken during his eight years in office, following the heart of the phrase developed by his team of “One Sioux Falls”. At Friday’s swearing in ceremony, Merkouris said, “Do what the rest of the country won’t do. Disagree in an honorable way. The best way that you and I can impact the city of Sioux Falls is to disagree on issues while recognizing the value and the quality of one another.”
With the election season and oaths behind them, now it’s time for the council to get down to business. Mayor Christine Erickson will preside over her first full City Council meeting Tuesday, and deliver the annual Mayor’s Budget address later this week.
