RAPID CITY, SD (KELO.com) — A Rapid City area law enforcement officer was shot and injured, and a suspect is dead following an exchange of gunfire with Pennington County Sheriff’s Deputies. Deputies responded to a report of a shooting at the Central States Fairgrounds found a man suffering from a gunshot wound. The suspect was identified as 58-year old John Lee, who was reported to possibly be going to the Oglala Sioux Reservation. Deputies located Lee on the Reservation. He shot at the officers, striking one of them. Officers returned fire, killing Lee.
