VERMILLION, SD (KELO.com) — The Missouri River is often viewed as a dividing point in South Dakota. East River and West River interests are diverse. But, when it comes to meeting water needs, it brings east and west together Lewis and Clark Regional Water System Executive Director Troy Larson calls it one of greatest resources. “The Missouri River is really our region’s only reliable, dependable water source, and that’s where all these regional water systems like Lewis and Clark are turning toward, because that is where we know the water is.” Lewis and Clark now provides 40-million gallons of water a day to 20 communities in South Dakota, Iowa and Minnesota
