Attorney General Marty Jackley
WASHINGTON, DC (KELO.com) — Attorney General Marty Jackley testified before a congressional committee Tuesday morning, in a hearing called ‘Farming on Trial”. The focus was on federal agencies using lawfare to intimidate and punish farm and ranch families. Jackley took committee members through the recent case involving Charles and Heather Maude, who faced jail time and heavy fines in a land dispute with the Forest Service. The Attorney General testified, “Unfortunately, the government chose a heavy-handed approach. They issued criminal indictments, separate for both Heather and Charles. It was a case that didn’t need to go that direction.”
Fortunately, the Maude case was dropped by the government, but the committee hear about other cases that were not dropped. Democrats walked out of the hearing at the beginning, saying they weren’t allowed to offer input on motions or witnesses, and said it wasn’t a real hearing.
