School opt outs could face challenges at the ballot box

PIERRE, SD (KELO.com) — A state Senate committee has voted to make it easier for citizens to force a public vote on school district property tax increases.  School districts opposed the measure.  Sponsor, Senator Sue Peterson of Sioux Falls, says current requirements are inconsistent with other petition processes.
