PIERRE, SD (KELO.com) — Good news from the South Dakota Department of Public Safety – traffic death numbers declined sharply last year. There were 110 fatal crashes, resulting in 123 deaths in 2025. That’s a five year low. Still, seat belt use is a critical safety issue, as nearly two-thirds of those who died were not wearing a seat belt.
