PIERRE, SD (KELO.com) — A Sioux Falls legislator is taking action to make a temporary sales tax reduction permanent. Lawmakers reduced the rate from 4.5% to 4.2 % in 2023, with an automatic return to 4.5% scheduled for next year. Senator Chris Karr is proposing a bill to fix the rate at 4.2%. He says he’s concerned if the rate returns to 4.5% the extra revenue will go to things he says aren’t ‘core government’.
