SIOUX FALLS, SD (KELO.com) — Sioux Falls police are investigating another scam incident. This one cost the victim over 51-thousand dollars. Police Information Officer Sergeant Aaron Benson says the victim was called by a person claiming to be with the Wells Fargo legal department. The scammer claimed a Wells Fargo Employee was giving out the victim’s bank account information, and the victim ended up giving the caller account information and access to his accounts.
Police Information Officer Aaron Benson says the scammer took 52-thousand dollars from one account, and another five-thousand dollars from a separate account, which was allegedly mailed to a person with a Florida address. Police say you should never give out account information. If you’re concerned about a call like this, hang up and contact police and your bank.
