PIERRE, SD (KELO.com) — A political firestorm leads to the resignation of Corrections Secretary Kellie Wasko. 20 state lawmakers wrote an open letter to Governor Rhoden saying they had no confidence in Wasko. That comes as they’re being asked to approve a 650-million dollar plan to build a prison in Sioux Falls. Governor Rhoden says Secretary Wasko made the decision to resign on her own. He believes her action may open the way for legislative approval of the prison construction plan. The search for her replacement is already underway.
