VERMILLION, SD (KELO.com) — South Dakota Public Broadcasting officials are doing what they can to plug a hole in their budget. SDPB loses 2.2-million dollars a year starting October first. State Senator Glen Vilhauer of Watertown says lawmakers are also being pressured to address the issue. He says many people overlook the key role SDPB plays in South Dakota’s emergency alert system. SDPB officials are working on a combination of extra fundraising and cuts in staffing and programming to deal with the shortfall.
