ABERDEEN, SD (KELO.com) — Federal regulators issue new pipeline safety requirements, as South Dakota considers a pipeline application. The new requirements are the result of a four-year investigation into a Carbon Dioxide pipeline leak in Mississippi. Summit Carbon Solutions has applied for a permit to build a CO2 line through the state. At a recent forum on the project, Company Safety Director Dave Daum said Summit will meet and exceed the new regulations.
The Public Utilities Commission has to decide the fate of Summit’s application by November. The deadline for registering to intervene and comment as a landowner is this Friday.
