PIERRE, SD (KELO.com) — South Dakota Legislators think it may be time to make it more difficult to amend the state constitution. A legislative committee endorsed raising the bar to 60-percent for approval of amendments on the ballot. Primary sponsor, Representative John Hughes of Sioux Falls says the hope is to prevent non-residents from changing life in South Dakota.
The resolution calling for the amendment will be considered next by the full state House.
