SIOUX FALLS, SD (KELO.com) — State and city governments across South Dakota are coming to grips with the battle against inflation. The end result is the grim reality that some programs and services are likely to be cut. Mayor Paul TenHaken says the city may not be able to maintain some of those services.
The city and state both rely heavily on sales tax revenues, which are declining because of inflation and the soft economy. Governor Kristi Noem proposed over 72-million dollars in budget cuts in her budget address this week. Mayor TenHaken says the city will feel that.
Mayor TenHaken says revenue numbers for November were good, but are still down from what was projected in the city budget.
