SIOUX FALLS, SD (KELO.com) — Slower economic growth is generating some friction, and budget issues in Sioux Falls City Hall. City Council members deferred a vote on a 68-million dollar aquatics bond last night. Part of the issue is a nine-million dollar transfer from the general fund for the purchase of the West-side recreation center. Public works Director Mark Cotter says that money is needed for a major maintenance project on Minnesota Avenue.
Council Chair Curt Soehl objects to the idea of including the nine-million in the aquatics bond. He says that amounts to borrowing for everyday needs.
The finance department will take up the issue with the city council next week.
