BRIDGEWATER, SD (KELO.com) — Signs of new life and hope are springing from South Dakota soil. The start of planting was delayed by lingering winter weather, but now the corn is beginning to sprout. We’re following Bridgewater area farmer Jason Hofer through the growing season. The weekend rains are welcome, but there is a slight down-side.
He says the rain has stopped planting activities for now, but Hofer is still thankful.
Hofer has about 80% of his corn ground planted, and about 45% of the beans are in. The rain will delay planting for at least a couple of days, and up until the weekend in some spots.
