WASHINGTON, D.C. (KELO.com) — Senator John Thune is incensed with the IRS.
The Inflation Reduction Act includes $80 billion to double the size of the IRS.
More than half of that will go to increased enforcement, while only 4% will go to improve customer service.
In response, Thune recently introduced the Increase Reliable Services Now Act to prevent the IRS from hiring new employees for enforcement until customer service at the agency reaches an acceptable level.
He wants the IRS to avoid increased audits of middle-class taxpayers.
