SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO.com) — A 73-year-old Sioux Falls man is dead after crashing his vehicle on Wednesday near 18th Street and Southeastern Avenue.
According to Police Spokesman Sam Clemens, the driver was heading west on 18th Street/River Boulevard when he failed to negotiate a curve in the road.
The vehicle went over a curb, then struck both a fence and a tree before coming to a stop.
Clemens says that lifesaving efforts were attempted by both bystanders and first responders, but the victim was pronounced dead at the scene.
Police are awaiting autopsy results, but do not suspect alcohol or drugs played a factor in the crash.
