SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO.com) — The South Dakota Farm Bureau says your 4th of July cookout is going to be more expensive this year compared to last year. They made that call based on a new study done by the American Farm Bureau Federation marketbasket survey. According to the study, U.S. consumers will pay $69.68 for their favorite Independence Day cookout foods, including cheeseburgers, pork chops, chicken breasts, homemade potato salad, strawberries and ice cream. That’s for a party of 10, which breaks down to roughly $7 per person. Overall, the cost is up 17% or about $10 from last year. The causes are supply chain issues, inflation and the wart in Ukraine. So when your out shopping for your 4th of July feast, shop around a bit and get the best bang for your buck.
