SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO.com) — Around 60 pro-choice supporters held a rally in front of the federal courthouse Friday afternoon expressing their displeasure with the U.S. Supreme Court’s repeal of Roe v. Wade.
The mid-afternoon rally was peaceful.
Dr. Amy Kelley, a Sanford obstetrician and gynecologist, says rather than being angry, supporters should take the time to grieve over the loss of abortion rights. She also said state bans like South Dakota’s would not stop abortion, only safe ones, and cause the deaths of women who try to end their pregnancies.
Former Republican state legislator Casey Murschel, head of NARAL in South Dakota, an abortion-rights group, and others stood on the planter in front of the courthouse to express their opposition to the high court’s ruling.
