SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO.com) — The final candidates from each have been decided after Tuesday’s special primary election in Minnesota’s 1st congressional district.
The special election was held after the death of Rep. Jim Hagedorn earlier this year.
Former Hormel Foods executive Jeff Ettinger cruised to victory in the Democratic primary, and former Department of Agriculture official Brad Finstad won the Republican nomination.
Ettinger and Finstead will face off in August to see which candidate will finish the last few months of Hagedorn’s term
The winner of that race will likely see a bump in their chances to win a full term later in November.
