SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO.com) — Over the weekend, another Sioux Falls senior almost fell prey to a puppy scam.
The customer asked a Walgreens clerk about using a photographed gift card.
The clerk asked the customer further questions.
It turned out the customer had bought gift cards to purchase a puppy online.
She had sent the alleged seller the front copies of the cards.
Fortunately, the Walgreens clerk convinced the customer this was sadly a scam.
So the customer did not proceed to send the crucial back-of-card information. Staff alerted police.
