SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO.com) — Tuesday’s Police briefing covers crime from over the weekend in Sioux Falls. There was no briefing on Monday due to President’s Day.
POLICE SEARCHING FOR BUTTER KNIFE BRANDISHING BANDIT
Sioux Falls Police are looking for man who attempted to rob a convenience store with a rather ineffective weapon.
According to police, the suspect entered the Kum & Go on east 6th street and demanded cash from the clerk while threatening him with a knife.
The clerk then noticed that the knife the suspect was wielding was a butter knife.
He laughed at the suspect and refused to give him any money.
The suspect fled on foot before police arrived.
The clerk was unharmed.
3 CARS STOLEN FROM USED CAR DEALERSHIP
After three vehicles were stolen from a used car dealership last week, Sioux Falls Police are searching for any suspects that may be involved.
Police say that as dealership employees arrived on Friday morning, they had discovered that 3 vehicles parked inside a garage were stolen during the overnight hours.
There were signs of forced entry to a garage door where the vehicles were located.
The incident occurred in the 4900 block of W. 12th Street.
POLICE INVESTIGATING RASH OF MAIL THEFT ON CITY’S SOUTH SIDE
Sioux Falls Police are investigating a rash of mail and package thefts that occurred over the weekend in southern Sioux Falls.
A majority of the thefts were concentrated in the area of W. 90th Street near Timber Oak Trail and Sunny Oak Circle.
Police say that doorbell cameras captured the porch pirate stealing packages around 4 a.m. on Sunday morning.
No arrests have been made at this time.
2 WOMEN BEHIND BARS AFTER ASSAULTING VICTIM WITH TIRE IRON AND PISTOL
Two Sioux Falls women are behind bars after assaulting another woman with a tire iron and a gun.
The incident occurred early Saturday morning in the 100 block of N. Cleveland Ave.
According to Police, the victim was pistol whipped several times by the first suspect before the second suspect stepped in and began striking the victim with a tire iron.
The victim says the suspects were at her apartment looking for something the victim did not have.
When the victim tried to call police, the suspects took the victim’s phone and threw it outside.
After the two women fled the apartment, the victim went outside to retrieve her phone and call police.
A short time later, police pulled over the suspect’s vehicle and found the two weapons used were inside the vehicle.
Police arrested Terrience Valencia Delaney, 30, on charges of robbery, burglary, and felony assault with a firearm.
The second suspect, Quinnita Fabrienne McNeely, 36, was arrested for robbery, burglary, and obstructing police.
