SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO.com) — Winter weather has returned to the Sioux Falls area, though snowfall in the city appears to be slightly less than expected earlier in the week.
The National Weather Service forecasted one to two inches of snow for Sioux Falls Tuesday morning, with more snow expected north and east of the city. Between 1 and 1.5 inches had fallen in Sioux Falls as of 9 a.m., according to the service.

High winds in the area make for difficult travel conditions, with blowing snow severely limiting visibility. Conditions are especially bad in the northeastern part of South Dakota, where Interstate 29 was closed from Watertown to the North Dakota border as of 9 a.m. Check real-time road conditions here.

The storm is coupled with severe wind chills that are expected to remain cold throughout Tuesday.
