SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO.com) — Former Sioux Falls Police Chief Matt Burns is joining Feeding South Dakota as its Chief Operating Officer.
The hunger relief organization said Burns will “provide leadership, planning and management of the operational functions of Feeding South Dakota.”
Burns spent 25 years with the police department before retiring last summer. He was appointed chief in October 2015.
“The work of providing food to those in need is a hopeful and vital cause,” Burns wrote in a release from Feeding South Dakota. “I am proud to join this team in the mission to end hunger in South Dakota.”
Burns’ first day at his new job is Monday.
