SIOUX FALLS, SD (KELO.com) – While Fall 2020 wasn’t the ideal time to introduce new math materials, the Sioux Falls School District staff and students are experiencing positive change.
The Sioux Falls School Board was updated on the new math curriculum implementation during the first of two board meetings this month.
According to the District’s Assistant Superintendent of Academic Achievement, Dr. Teresa Boysen, elementary and middle school teachers say the new lessons have helped with student confidence. While high school teachers applauded the new curriculum’s ability to meet different skills and also provide immediate feedback for students.
The review of the new materials was conducted by surveying teachers and classroom observation. The new materials had been recommended by the Math Curriculum Review Committee after an 18-month study.
