SIOUX FALLS, SD (KELO.com) – The Sioux Falls City Council received the final Report of the Sioux Falls Districting Commission to adjust the boundaries for the council districts. Under the city charter, the commission is appointed following each decennial census and prepares a plan for dividing the City into districts for the election of City Council members. The plan recommended to the Council was “Option 11a1” which adjusts the districts by moving 6 precincts to different districts.
Mayor Paul TenHaken joked with the Commission Chair Mark Millage about the lack of creativity in the names of the different plans like the State Legislature’s Blackbird and Grouse plan. Millage told TenHaken the city’s plan also didn’t have the controversy.
The council has until November 30 to disapprove of the proposed plan.
