SIOUX FALLS, SD (KELO.com) – While the number of students graduating in 4 years is at a 5-year high of 85.5%, there is still some work in other areas that need to be done for students in the district. That’s according to the Academic Report presented to the Sioux Falls School Board.
The South Dakota report card tests students in grades 3-8 and 11. Sioux Falls district students’ scores are behind state averages in reading and math in all grades except for 11th-grade math scores, which exceed the state average. In response to a drop in scores, the Sioux Falls School District has added intervention services on all grade levels throughout the school day.
The good news is that students graduating have improved their college and career readiness scores by 10%. And when district students take the ACT, they outscore the national average on ACT composite scores by nearly 2 1/2 points and the state average by 1 point
The District’s academic report was presented to the School Board on Monday.
