SIOUX FALLS, SD (KELO.com) – The National Weather Service has issued a frost advisory from 2:00 am to 10:00 am on Saturday for parts of southeast South Dakota, southwest Minnesota and northwest Iowa.
If you have any outdoor plants, now is the time to protect them! The NWS advises covering up your plants or bringing them into a garage or shed. They also say using Christmas lights or a 100-watt bulb can act as a heat source to keep them from freezing.
Other tips include watering your plants to help slow heat loss. Also, a thick layer of mulch offers some protection from the cold.
