SIOUX FALLS, SD (KELO.com) – Organizations that help victims of crime may have to reduce services due to a cut in federal funds.
Michelle Trent, executive director of the Compass Center, says Victims Service Providers like the Compass Center and Children’s Inn receive part of their funding from the Victims of Crime Act or VOCA. Trent said that funding for the VOCA program has been cut back. The Compass Center learned July 1st that they would have a funding shortfall of $230,000. Trent said organizations may need to cut back on services if there is not a way to make up the funding.
