SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO.com) — Local law enforcement had a busy summer weekend.
TOY GUN LEADS TO SHOOTING WITH REAL ONE
A toy gun led to a real gun and a shooting last night (Sunday) in Sioux Falls.
A woman, a six-year-old girl, and a man were walking down the sidewalk in the 7th and Spring area.
The man spotted a toy gun in the boulevard and picked it up.
Another man in a nearby house started yelling at him.
Six people came out of the house and moved aggressively toward the trio on the sidewalk.
The woman doused pepper spray at the mob.
The man who yelled shot the woman in the calf with a gun.
The woman had non-life-threatening injuries.
Police arrested Dwight Kendell Green, 35, from Sioux Falls and charged him with aggravated assault.
MAN BASHES DOOR WITH A MACHETE
A Sioux Falls man sits in jail on two counts of aggravated assault with a machete.
The incident occurred this weekend at a motel in the 3000 block of West Russell Avenue.
The suspect showed up at the victim’s room, then said he would get a machete.
The suspect did, then proceeded to bash the door with the machete.
There were two people in the room.
Robert James Romero, 43, faces two aggravated assault charges.
Police think he may have been drinking.
No one was hurt in the incident.
POLICE LOOKING FOR A STALKER
Sioux Falls Police are looking for a man who followed two sisters back to their apartment after taking out the trash.
The incident happened this weekend at an apartment building in the 4800 block of West Saint James Drive.
The sisters, 19 and 7, saw the man near the trash receptacles.
After they dumped the trash, he followed them to their apartment and banged on the door.
The police say they have a good description of the stalker.
NOT A FIGURATIVE DUMPSTER FIRE BUT A REAL ONE
There are figurative dumpster fires, then there are literal dumpster fires.
The Sioux Falls Police and Sioux Falls Fire Rescue responded to one early this morning (Monday) in the 1000 block of North Minnesota Ave.
When authorities arrived, they found a woman burning cardboard in a dumpster next to a business.
The heat from the dumpster fire damaged the exterior of the building.
Police arrested Crystal Lee Ironheart, 46, from Sioux Falls.
She is charged with reckless burning and intentional property damage.
