SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO.com) — The U.S. Senate did not reach enough votes to form a bipartisan commission to investigate the January 6th riots at the nation’s Capitol.
The final vote on the January 6 commission was 54-35.
Senator John Thune voted against the commission, and Senator Mike Rounds was not present for the vote.
In total, 11 senators were not present for the vote; 9 Republicans and 2 Democrats.
Representative Dusty Johnson voted for the commission last week, breaking from the majority of his Republican colleagues.
