SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO.com) — Marc Murren was elected to the Sioux Falls School Board and Kate Parker won re-election on Tuesday.
Murren earned 30.7% of the vote, the most of any candidate. Parker finished second with 20.2% of the vote, just ahead of Anthony Pizer’s 18.5%. She won reelection by 202 votes.
Parker has served on the school board since 2009. Murren is a retired teacher and coach at Washington High School.
Cory Begley finished fourth with 16.1% of the vote; Paulette Ludens finished fifth in the five-person race with 14.5%.
Turnout for the election was 5.13%, according to the Sioux Falls School District. It was the highest turnout since 2015 for a school board election in the city not combined with a municipal election.
