SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO.com) — There were three reports of arson yesterday in Sioux Falls which led to two arrests.
The first was a garbage can found on fire outside an apartment with no real damage or suspects.
The second was at 10:30 Wednesday night outside the Bishop Dudley House. A man had been asked to leave after assaulting a couple of other people. When the officers arrived the man threatened to kill several people including the officers with a gun.
Officers issued a trespass notice when the man took out a lighter and started the piece of paper on fire in front of the Bishop Dudley House which the officers distinguished.
The suspect, 45-year-old Dyson Keen, a transient from Sioux Falls, ended up being arrested for disorderly conduct, threatening law enforcement, reckless burning and making a terroristic threat.
The third arson occurred at a house in the 900 block of Colleen Lane at 11 p.m. It began as a dispute between a landlord and a tenant. The landlord was pounding on the tenant’s door and windows and yelling at the tenant, trying to break-in. He then started a lawn chair and the outside of the house on fire. The tenant put the fire out and called the police.
When the officers arrived and talked to the landlord, the landlord began yelling and cursing at the officers.
49-year-old Jason Walz of Sioux Falls was arrested for charges including disorderly conduct, disturbing the peace and reckless burning. The officers wrote in their notes that the man had been drinking.
The fire caused minor damage.
