SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO.com) — The Sioux Falls City Council will vote Tuesday night on whether to extend the city’s mask mandate, with a potential end in sight.
The newest version up for debate ties the length of the ordinance to South Dakota’s vaccine rollout. It still wouldn’t be enforced.
If extended, the ordinance would be nullified when vaccines become available to Group 1E, the last high-priority group in the state. It includes essential industry workers.
Right now the state is working through Group 1D. Shots are currently available to people over 65 or with an underlying health condition. Teachers and funeral service workers are also in Group 1D, but aren’t eligible yet.
Sioux Falls passed its mask mandate on November 17 after weeks of debate. Read the ordinance up for consideration Tuesday here.
