SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO.com) — South Dakota is one of the most efficient states in COVID-19 vaccine distribution. There are still frustrations with the slow pace of immunizations.
Liz Healy, infection control specialist with Avera Sacred Heart Hospital in Yankton says the state is working to even out the distribution.
“One week we get a thousand doses, the next week we only get two hundred,” Healy said. “That’s so difficult to manage on a number of different levels.”
Healy said it’s difficult to plan for any type of vaccination clinic, and she and her colleagues are in frequent contact with the state Department of Health.
The state reports over 75,000 doses have been given to over 58,000 people so far, with about 17,000 people getting the double dose.
