SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO.com) — Winter weather forced interstate highway closures in eastern South Dakota Thursday night and Friday morning, though highways are starting to reopen.
I-29 and I-90 were closed in Sioux Falls as icy roads and strong winds made for unsafe conditions. They reopened at 6:30 a.m. Friday, but roads remain slippery, according to the state Department of Transportation.
Parts of I-29 in northeast South Dakota, including in the Brookings and Watertown areas, reopened at about 7:30 a.m. Friday. But authorities still have a No Travel Advisory in place on those roads as of 8 a.m. Check up-to-date road conditions here.
