SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO.com) – Sioux Falls is expected to put aside $100,000 in public money for a COVID-19 education campaign at its meeting Tuesday night.
The campaign was fires proposed on November 10 in the form of an ordinance sponsored by Councilors Janet Brekke and Curt Soehl. Council appropriations rules mandated the lengthy gap between ordinance readings.
At the time the ordinance was intended to encourage mask-wearing and other mitigation efforts. Mayor Paul TenHaken said Monday the money could also be used to educate the public about the COVID-19 vaccine rollout. The vaccine is expected to be widely available in several months.
