Sioux Falls Mayor Paul TenHaken speaks on Facebook Live on December 6, 2020.
SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO.com) — Sioux Falls Mayor Paul TenHaken reminded people not to let up COVID-19 mitigation efforts with a vaccine soon to become available.
“I think people are getting complacent,” TenHaken said on Facebook Live Sunday. He added that people should be optimistic about promising vaccine trials, “but we can’t let up the masking and the distancing and all the other things that quite honestly have slowed our spread a little bit over the past month or so.”
TenHaken also said in the update he’d support an extension to the city’s mask mandate, which is up for a first reading at Tuesday’s city council meeting.
“I know the council has asked where I would land on that, and I think it’s been going fairly well so far in our city, having that in place,” TenHaken said.
