SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO.com) β Instead of the needy coming for the food in Sioux Falls, the food will be coming to the needy.
Feeding South Dakota is switching from a centralized food distribution strategy to going to the actual neighborhoods that need food the most.
The mobile neighborhood food pantry operation starts on October 13 at five locations.
First United Methodist Church, 401 S. Spring Ave, November 4, December 2 (No Oct distribution)
King of Glory Church, 1001 E. 17th Oct 13, Nov 10, Dec 8
Laura B. Anderson Elementary School, 1600 N. Wayland Pl, Oct 13, Nov 10, Dec 8
Hillcrest Church, 4301 E. 26th, Oct 21, Nov 18, Dec 16
Good News Church, 1800 S. Valley View, Oct 27, Nov 24, Dec 22
Food will be distributed from 530 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. It will be drive-thru. Families will be asked to stay in the cars because of COVID-19 concerns. Other locations may be added as the new program picks up steam.
βIt has long been our goal to reach more individuals and families in need of food assistance where they are instead of making these folks come to us,β says Feeding South Dakota CEO, Matt Gassen.
Centralized food distribution will end Tuesday, September 29.
