SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO.com) — South Dakota soybean farmers will help the City of Sioux Falls extend the life of city streets.
Mayor Paul TenHaken says it’s a pilot project using a product made from soybean oil to preserve road surfaces.
“How can we add years, add shelf life to these roads so that we save the taxpayers’ dollars and we also create safe and drivable roads.”
Some research has shown that this soybean product called ‘Replay’ can extend the life of a road by up to nine years.
Replay has been used in other states, but this will be a first in South Dakota.
South Dakota Soybean will share the cost of the pilot with the city.
