SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO.com) — The Sioux Falls School District’s road map to handle COVID-19 concerns has a dashboard and traffic lights.
Schools Chief Jane Stavem says the new dashboard is on the Districts website and has green, yellow, and red levels to check the status of individual school buildings.
“The goal is to stay in ‘green’ as long as possible, but there may be circumstances that come about that require us to do things quickly and change to that ‘yellow’…,” Stavem explains on KELO Radio’s It’s Your Business Show with Bill Zortman.
And just like a traffic light, if status goes to ‘red’, it means stop, possibly closing the building and going to remote learning.
Stavem says that color codes for each building will cut down on confusion.
This will be a school year like no other because of the coronavirus. There will be marks in some school parking lots for social distancing, directional arrows in hallways, plexiglass shields in various rooms, and staggered times for lunch.
The Sioux Falls School Board gave final approval Monday evening to the ‘Back to School’ plan, the road map to safe learning.
The kids are back in class starting Thursday in Sioux Falls public schools. Many school systems have already returned to class.
