SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO.com) — Binding COVID-19 restrictions on Sioux Falls businesses may come to an end Tuesday.
The Sioux Falls City Council is will consider repealing the city’s “no lingering” ordinance during a special 3 p.m. meeting.
City Health Director Jill Franken said conditions in Sioux Falls are looking better than anticipated.
“We were predicting that by now we would be seeing a surge that would be taking us far higher than what we’ve been experiencing,” Franken said.
Current city legislation requires restaurants and bars seat parties six feet apart and entertainment venues and gyms run at half of their fire capacity. Those restrictions would go away if the council repeals the ordinance Tuesday.
The council is also considering a nonbinding resolution encouraging the public to “be diligent in their behavior” to slow the spread of the disease. It recommends people adhere to social distancing guidelines and wear masks when out in public.
